Better work environment under the EU flag

The European Commission wants the EU to improve working conditions for seafarers on EU flagged ships. Measures include better protection for seafarers on board ships that are abandoned by their owners in foreign ports for financial reasons, as well as increased protection for those on long-term sick leave due to injuries at work.
