On 1 July there was an explosion and then a fire in the engine room of the ropax ship, Peter Pan. It was caused by a broken con rod in the main engine according to a report by the Swedish Accident Investigation Authority (SHK). The cause of the con rod failure has not been established, but the fire started after fuel and lubricating oil gushed into the cylinder in question.
