TWO SWEDISH STUDENTS AT the Åland University of Applied Sciences chose to write a handbook on health care for ships’ officers for their dissertation. It focuses on supporting medical interventions that are important to be able to do on board, but which are rarely practised. The medical guide is now part of the teaching materials on the healthcare course for marine officers at Åland University and a Swedish shipping company has purchased copies for their ships. The guide has been reviewed by doctors from Radio Medical at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg and costs SEK 300 excluding VAT.
