There are a number of interesting work environment events to follow this year, such as work by the umbrella organisation Vågrätt and Cecilia Österman’s investigation of methods to combat offensive behaviour and harassment at sea. Ongoing research includes how to design a safe work environment on ships and how leadership on board can develop in step with technology. SAN will be holding its annual work environment conference in October, but a month earlier our Danish sister organisation Seahealth will have their large two-day event in Esbjerg. Here at SAN News we will be monitoring developments in maritime health and safety in general, and highlighting areas that we think deserve closer attention – such as the combination of risks mentioned in this issue, or food and exercise during shift work. We will come back to that topic later in the year. Our profile portraits will continue, and we’ll keep an eye on health and safety developments around the world.
Happy reading!
