One in three half-face masks give poor protection

Five of the eighteen half-face mask respirators examined did not provide enough protection. Several masks also had shortcomings in their product documentation. These were the results of a market check carried out by the Work Environment Authority on a selection of masks. It was noted that in many cases, small businesses and importers from third countries do not know enough about requirements to put the product on the market. The manufacturers have either put right the deficiencies or have stopped selling the half-face mask respirators that were criticised.
